Family Friendly Rustic Autumn Village Birthday party venues

We’re headed to Scotland today for the beautiful village Birthday party venues day of Margo and Simon who were married on the 30th November 2018. They chose to hold their ceremony at Killearn Kirk followed by a reception at Killearn Village Hall in Stirling. I have to say I have always loved a village hall wedding, there is just something so quaint and informal about them. I really was blown away by the space in their chosen venue and it was decorated so beautifully with rustic hessian runners, autumnal florals and festoon lighting galore. There was also a superb cake table created by Three Sisters Bake, which really made a great centrepiece to the reception.

Birthday party venues

This family friendly affair featured a kids zone to ensure all the children had a great time. It’s always really worth thinking about entertaining your youngest guests and the kids zone sounds like the perfect idea Birthday party venues. I also love the calligraphy wooden signs, the utterly beautiful bouquet and all the stylish outfits.

Thanks ever so much to The Gibsons Photography for sharing with us these really wonderful images of such a gorgeous celebration.

The Proposal Birthday party venues

A total surprise on the top of the sand dunes of Gullane Bents, on the East Coast of Scotland (the village where I spent my holidays as a child).

The Vision Birthday party venues

We wanted a very relaxed and informal feel to the day so a village hall was ideal for us. Killearn Kirk provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and then a few steps away we had the reception in Birthday party venues – no need for transport which was very appealing to us. Three Sisters Bake at KVH did the catering and we brought in Activity Delivered to set up a kids zone downstairs during the reception to make sure our own children and younger guests had a lovely time too.

The Planning Process Birthday party venues

Pinterest was so helpful! I just made lists and gathered ideas and only chose things I loved.

The Readings & Music

We had traditional Scottish folk music played as guests arrived.

My daughter Grace sang California Dreaming with Hannah Rarity (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2018).

Readings were done by our friends Emma and Linda: 1 Corrinthians 13 and “Union” by Robert Fulghum.

Our friend Gill provided us with a string trio during the drinks reception.

The band for the reception were Papa Shandy and the Drams.

Your Outfits & Accessories

My dress was designed and made for me by Nutmeg Bridal Couture – this was the best Village Hall Wedding supplier decision I made. The whole process felt really special and personal to my style. My tiara came from Spain, a designer called Carmen Maria Mayz. My shoes were block heels with a heart on the front from Rainbow Club.

Simon wore a dark green Harris Tweed suit from Asos and his velvet tie was from Marc Darcy.

The Honeymoon

Not yet! We had planned to go to Three Chimney’s on Skye for a couple of nights following the wedding but the baby was sick so we couldn’t go. For us and our three children it will be a family moon to Portugal in the Summer!

Memorable Moments

All of it! A wonderful happy day full of love spent with family and friends. I gave a speech, which I felt was a good example for the kids – traditionally only men speak at weddings but with three kids and particularly a daughter watching on, it felt right to say something!
