Conchubhar and Clare met on a night out in Dublin when they were students, “My sister and I had been turned away from Quinn’s and we took a taxi to McGowan’s where they luckily allowed us in!” explains Clare, “We met the group of teachers and afterwards Conchubhar persuaded myself and my sister to join them in Abrakadabra. Over some taco fries he got my attention with his Donegal accent and a bit of Gaeilge.”

Clare’s sister realised that she had left her phone in the taxi, and Conchubhar let Clare call it using his phone, the group parted ways and Clare was devastated that he had never taken her number, “A week later my sister got a message (she got the phone back from the taxi driver) and it said ‘I took a shine to your sister Clare. Could you pass on my number?’ A couple of weeks later we went to on our first date but it took me a good few dates before I figured out how to pronounce his name!” Clare admits. P.S. How beautiful are these floral watercolour bridesmaids dresses.

The couple got engaged in Australia while they were visiting Clare’s sister and her husband for Christmas. “Conchubhar decided one morning that he wanted to go to the local park. We were both reading when I noticed that he had gotten up and wandered off and was standing over by a tree,” Clare recalls. “He called me over and as I arrived he went down on one knee holding a ring. Of course I thought he was joking and told him to stand up but eventually realised that he was serious and said yes! It was a lovely start to the New Year.”

The couple tell us their wedding was relaxed and laid-back, “It reflected our own style and had lots of family involvement. We enjoyed every minute of the day, surrounded by our family and friends. It was full of happiness, laughter, smiles and lots of dancing. The weather was unreal and everyone seemed in such good form.”

As Conchubhar and his family are Gaeilgóirs a lot of the mass was as Gaeilge, “It might have been confusing for half the guests but they seemed to enjoy it!” says Clare. “Our photographer and videographer really captured the vibe of the day and the beauty of the landscape in Donegal.”

Clare explains all the reasons why she and Conchubhar fell in love with their Donegal venue, “There is a very relaxed feel to the hotel and the staff were so helpful from the start. The setting of ‘An Chúirt’ is perfect. We were really hoping for good weather so that the guests could sit outside and enjoy the views of Mount Errigal and the lake at Poison Glen wedding venues near me chiswick london. It was near to Conchubhar’s home place and the beautiful church in Dunlewey where we had our ceremony. Luckily the wedding took place in a middle of a heat wave. The beach is nearby and lots of our guests joined us as we spent the next day on Port Arthur beach. We have lots of good memories from that day also.”

The couple’s top priority was to relax on their wedding day and enjoy the company of our family and friends, “All the suppliers that we carefully chose allowed us to do that corporate party venues and had such a positive impact on the day. We put a lot of thought into the music and the prayers for the ceremony and it was very special part of the day for us.”

Flowers added touches of romance and colour throughout the day, “Flowers by Mee did the bouquets and buttonholes. The flowers in my hair were picked from the field outside the house! And Mam did flowers for tables.”

Clare explains that everyone’s presence and involvement corporate party venues made the day all the more special, “The morning of the wedding I went out for a walk with my siblings which was a lovely way to start the day. We also found some heather in the fields which we used in our hair. My sister painted the mass booklet and my brother created the invitation. My mam did lots of the flowers which was a little stressful at the time but it was nice to have so much involvement from our families. A lot of our guests spent a few days there and we loved spending time with them as they made a holiday out of it. We looked around the dance floor at one point during the night and it was so lovely and overwhelming to see so many faces of loved ones together in the one room. That was one of our favourite parts of the day.”

This pair have some nuggets of advice to pass on to other couples corporate party venues, “We would advise other couples to keep things simple when possible and not to fuss too much about small things that on the day you might not notice. We would recommend people to get a videographer. We weren’t sure about getting one at the start but they captured special moments throughout the day that we would have forgotten about. Everyone always says it but the day does go by very quickly so enjoy savour every moment of the celebration. Find suppliers that you can trust and get on well with as they can help put you at ease on the day and have a really positive effect on the day, especially in the house for the morning preparations!” Wise words, you two!
